Politicians are something we can't live with and same time we can't live without.

Where I'm located the only time its changed by politicians is when they try to put a ceiling price on it or raising taxes on it(which is like once every few years). Gas prices is usually only changed by the different gas stations competing for business.

The real price for GAS
9/19/2007 1:30:00 PM
Don
Consider these facts, and then be the judge. I was recently involved in studing a new pipeline to transport gas from the Texas - New Mexico Border to a point at the Mississippi - Alabama border. The cost to build this pipeline exceeded 19 BILLION DOLLARS; $19,000,000,000. At a profit level of say, $0.50 per gallon it will take 38 billion in sales to pay off the pipeline. Now figure in the related expenses of operation, maintenance, and government regulations and the number doubles, so it now take 76 BILLION in sales to break even. Any smart business person now understands one thing, YOU ONLY MAKE A PROFIT after years of operations. Don http://www.latitude8lodge.com

Agree with Don

I kind of agree with Don. Cost is a major factor. There is also lot of other things going on. If George Bush. for example, owns a oil company he would never like to see it out of business. Oil is main reason for all the hatred and fights in the middle east. Nobody would give a shit about them, if they didn't have oil. At least there is hope now with growing effort on reducing dependency on oil. I was watching a TV show today, some guy made a battery that runs for indefinite time. Hopefully we can improve that kind of technology, and this world could be much more peaceful.

It's The Sun Stupid
10/29/2007 4:08:00 PM
Before we had the oil industry or even burning wood in boilers, it may be surprising to learn that - humans still survived! Where could they have possibly gotten sufficient energy? It's the Sun Stupid! Long after the "oil industry" has faded in history books, we will still be getting our energy from the Sun. We should be more worried about getting a substantial number of people off the Earth so humanity can survive than worrying about energy. Until we've got solar and wind providing energy at or near every home, we are just deluding ourselves that oil is less expensive. To be even close to fair, you have to count a certain percentage of every nation-to-oil-nation war. You also have to count a true value of the oil commodity. Currently oil is being subsidized because the oil companies work deals that do not take into account the value of not having oil in the future. There are important products to be made that will be far more expensive without the oil that we consume each day. Our nations "leadership" - is not. We have zero leaders trained sufficiently in scientific disciplines. We have lawyers that seem to feel dotting i and crossing t are will fix problems. They will not. So, we need to fall back to the next best thing. We need a John Kennedy that can say to the nation, "Our dependence on foreign oil will end before my first term in office. Congress will pass legislation that insures electric companies will offer solar and wind technology to all buyers at a price no more than consumers are paying today. In less than a decade, the great majority of homeowners will have net-zero energy costs."
